Pablo Ruiz y Picasso, known simply as Pablo Picasso, was born in Malaga, Spain on October 25, 1881. He was the first child of an art teacher, José Ruiz Blasco, and a domestic worker, María Picasso y López. Picasso's father recognized his son's artistic talents at a young age and began teaching him to draw and paint. By the time he was 13, Picasso had already enrolled in art school.

In 1895, the Picasso family moved to Barcelona where the young artist attended the Academy of Fine Arts. It was here that he began to develop his own style and technique, drawing inspiration from the works of El Greco and Diego Velázquez. He also became interested in the works of Edgar Degas, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Paul Cézanne, all of whom would have a significant influence on his future work.
In 1900, at the age of 19, Picasso moved to Paris, the art capital of the world at the time. He quickly became friends with other young artists, including Georges Braque, with whom he would later develop the revolutionary art movement known as Cubism. Cubism broke down objects into geometric shapes and allowed the artist to depict multiple viewpoints in a single composition. This technique revolutionized the art world and Picasso became one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.

Throughout his career, Picasso experimented with different styles and techniques. He went through several distinct periods, each marked by its own unique style. The Blue Period (1901-1904) was characterized by somber and melancholic paintings, often featuring blue and blue-green hues. The Rose Period (1904-1906) was marked by a lighter palette and figures depicted in a more cheerful and playful manner. The African-Influenced Period (1907-1909) featured works with bold, primitive forms, inspired by the art of Africa and Oceanic cultures. The Analytic Cubism Period (1909-1912) featured works where objects are broken down into geometric shapes and multiple viewpoints. The Synthetic Cubism Period (1912-1919) featured works where the shapes are simpler and more abstract.

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Picasso was known for his tumultuous personal life. He had several wives and mistresses and was involved in many scandals. Despite this, his art continued to be highly sought after and he remained a prominent figure in the art world until his death on April 8, 1973, in Mougins, France.

Today, Picasso's works are some of the most valuable in the world and can be found in major museums and private collections around the globe. His legacy lives on as an artist who pushed the boundaries of traditional art and continues to inspire generations of artists. His works can be seen as a reflection of the cultural, political and social changes of the 20th century. He is considered one of the greatest artists of all time, his influence on the art world is undeniable and his contribution to the development of art movements like Cubism, Surrealism, and Abstract Expressionism is undeniable.
In conclusion, the life and work of Pablo Picasso are an essential part of art history. His work continues to inspire and influence artists around the world, making him one of the most important and well-known artists of the 20th century. His influence on the art world is undeniable and his contribution to the development of art movements like Cubism, Surrealism, and Abstract Expressionism is undeniable.
